When adding our early electronic ignition to your original early Metropolitan distributor you will want to make sure the shaft has minimal wear. Since this ignitor is a tight fit, and if your shaft has too much wobble, the rotor may hit the module. If that’s the case you can lightly sand the rotor or slightly enlarge the holes on the electronic ignition mounting plate to move it back. If your shaft has excessive wear this ignitor may not work for you and you’d have to purchase one of our new distributors.
You can tell in the installed picture that it does fit correctly with a good tight distributor shaft.
Replaces points, condenser, & low tension lead. When adding an electronic ignition to your original distributor you'll want to check, and replace if necessary; the spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, & spark plugs. Check the related items below.
The included grommet (that goes where the low tension used to) will need trimmed slightly when using on an original distributor.

Points are a pain to constantly mess around with, although Pertronix ignitors are quite a bit more expensive up front they're a 1 time buy & a drop in replacement.
